politics. The 2008 Presidential Election, and related campaign.

On that note, here's a great article about Palin.
http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2008/09/30/palin_pity/index.html

It's as if the author read my mind. As a woman, she sums up exactly how I feel about Palin, and this utter BS of her being "representative" of the American woman.

Excuse me, but Sarah Palin has precisely fuck all in common with me. I resent the decision to put such an utter moron on the national stage, effectively destroying a good deal of credibility for my gender. If you are telling me that THIS is the absolute most qualified woman in the country to run for the office of VP, then that implies that all other American women must be less intelligent than her.

Oh and Sarah? You'd better knock off this pathetic bullshit of being coy and demure, and letting your campaign shield you from the press.
You're on the national stage. Hell, you're on the international stage. You are going to have to face the press and the voters. You damned well better answer questions you are asked (although you couldn't give a straight answer to one blessed thing in the VP debate [aside from expanding VP powers as our founding fathers rolled in their graves]); it's only going to be worse if you were (God forbid) to make it into office.
Now shut the fuck up and deal with it.

in reference to my previous post;

My sole intention was to hopefully start a discussion about why people choose to do the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

I did not want to hear a parroted response of "the love of entertaining." I was hoping to encourage some real thought and insight into your own lives and reexamination of your choices.

Why?

Because so many of you constantly bitch about doing it.

Therefore, I thought I would try and encourage you to make a positive choice either way. What you want to do is what you want to do, and I am not judging anyone for it.

Nor do I want to be convinced to entertain. I am doing it multiple times a month as it is.

Do you get it now?

My point was: quit bitching, or just quit.

Sheesh.

It's the last weekend of Festival.
My boyfriend had, earlier in the season, expressed interest in going. I told him I would go if he wanted to, and I wanted to accompany him to make sure he had a good time and saw the good shows, etc.; but that if left up to me, I would rather spend our time another way. Well I just realized that this is the last weekend, and we're not going. I just don't feel like making the trek out there, and we already had other things planned for this weekend.

Anyway, here's my challenge:

Why do you guys do Fest? )

Any answers of "the love of entertaining" or any other happy horse shit you are repeating from Cast Call will be ignored. I want the real deal here. Convince me.

You need this. So do all of your friends and co-workers.

And it's non-partisan, so STFU and use it. If you really don't think it's non-partisan, then go ahead and find some more information for them and submit it. Contribute, don't criticize.

That's it. I've had it.
No Fitz, don't get excited as I'm not about to turn Republican or Libertarian or whatever.

What I AM going to do is say this:

ALL OF YOU HIPPIE BASTARDS ARE PISSING ME OFF ROYALLY AND YOU CAN ALL F*CK OFF.

Why?
Well, let me tell you something kiddies.
If I took a survey of my viewpoints of political and social issues, I would come up 99% bleeding heart liberal.
You know what else though?
I am surrounded by jackasses who are more concerned with doing whatever they want than learning how to play the game and actually achieving something.

I applaud every single person who attended the demonstrations thus far in Saint Paul and behaved themselves.
Go. Demonstrate. Write to the newspapers. Write to your Representatives. Volunteer for Campaigns. Set a good example. Lobby. Fundraise. Engage in independent journalism.

Right now my city is being broadcast all over the world as the center of a bunch of rioting children who are throwing temper tantrums in the street. I am sick to death of self proclaimed "Liberals" who only yell and scream and insult..... and thereby don't actually get anything done.

All of you dumbass self proclaimed "Anarchists" (and you are so NOT Anarchists, you just like the word) who are rioting and trashing MY city, I want you OUT of my city.

We are not accomplishing anything.

When are we going to learn?
Not dealing with the reality and instead kicking and screaming that this is the way things should be and acting accordingly is just as stupid, if not more so, than the anti-abortion activists who also refuse to encourage or use birth control ('cuz sorry guys, people ARE having sex whether you like it or not.)

This is the way it is, like it or not.
Assault is illegal.
Vandalism is illegal.

You commit a crime, you will be arrested and charged.

I mean really? How dumb are these people? Are they actually surprised? Call me crazy but I try to avoid crazy tense situations.

My god people. It's like you're frantically trying to stomp on the termites eating your house instead of finding the figurative nest and dealing with it.
I will reiterate that I do not advocate violence of any kind.

Why don't you guys learn your history, and subsequently hopefully learn something from those activists in our history who were successful.

Have you learned nothing from MLK or Gandhi?

Feeling: disappointed

Hi all.
Yes, this is my first post in forever, but please read this, and please try to help.

So we had an AMAZING gig tonight down at O'Donovan's.

We also met a truly fantastic gentleman from the Belfast area. He was hilarious, incredibly personable, friendly, well dressed, and just a good chap all around.

He is in Minneapolis trying to find a job. He really likes it here and wants to stay, but if he doesn't find work soon, he has no choice but to leave and look elsewhere.

He's a bartender. Yes, he's checked all over with most of the local Irish pubs but they're all full up right now. I appreciate general suggestions but trust me, we've racked our brains. So unless you have a solid lead please don't bother.

Does ANYONE know of ANY sort of bar, or maybe even a coffee shop where he can work? He will most likely need sponsorship, just FYI.

If you work somewhere or know someone who works somewhere like this, or someone who owns a place that might be willing to do this, please message me ASAP! And spread the word too!

This is very time sensitive - will probably need an answer before Wednesday.

Thanks all! Hope to see you tomorrow night!
